Disable WordPress Theme Changing by Removing Submenu from Dashboard August 9, 2011

Posted by Tournas Dimitrios in Wordpress - 3.

You may want to remove the “theme” sub-menu tab from the dashboard for administrator users , but the super-administrator still having access to the theme sub-menu . Open the function.php file and append the following code .

// Remove Theme-menu from Dashboard for non super-Users
add_action( 'admin_init', 'remove_theme' );
function remove_theme() {
	global $submenu, $userdata;
	if ( $userdata->ID != 1 ) {
		unset( $submenu['themes.php'][5] );
		unset( $submenu['themes.php'][15] );

Well , he could still edit the function.php file to gain access to the theme sub-menu🙂 . If in any case users must be excluded to have access to the theme menu , create  lower privileged  users (editor , author , contributor ) ..
