Virtual hosts and phpmyadmin on wamp 2.2.14 May 7, 2011

Posted by Tournas Dimitrios in Uncategorized.

The best practice is to simulate our development environment as a production server , so we have to set-up virtual hosts .But when we tray to access phpmyadmin we get a nice :
” The requested URL /phpmyadmin/ was not found on this server.”

Phpmyadmin must also be configured as a  virtual host  , the procedure is simple as :

  • register phpmyadmin in the hosts file
  • Add the following in the httpd.conf file
  • Restart wamp .

   DocumentRoot "C:\Program Files\wamp\www"
   ServerName localhost
   ServerAlias localhost

   DocumentRoot "C:\Program Files\wamp\www\quickstart\public"
   ServerName quickstart.local
   ServerAlias quickstart.local
	<Directory "C:\Program Files\wamp\www\quickstart\public">
	AllowOverride all
	order allow,deny
# Enables .htaccess files for this site
	allow from all

#### PHP-Myadmin ######

<VirtualHost >
   DocumentRoot "C:\Program Files\wamp\apps\phpmyadmin3.3.9"
   ServerName phpmyadmin
   ServerAlias phpmyadmin
	<Directory "C:\Program Files\wamp\apps\phpmyadmin3.3.9">
	AllowOverride All
	Order allow,deny
	Allow from all

This sample creates 3 virtual-host on a wamp v2.2.14 (only for localhost ) .
