Scrolling In Firefox Is Horribly Slow on CentOs 5 and Fedora 10 December 17, 2010

Is scrolling vertically on web pages in your Firefox horribly slow?

I encountered this issue recently on Fedora 10 and CentOs 5.2 . Initially, I suspected the binary NVIDIA driver. But I was wrong. I found a simple solution.

Disable smooth scrolling in the Firefox preferences.

  • On the Firefox window click Edit
  • Click Preferences
  • Click Advanced tab
  • Click Use Smooth Scrolling to uncheck the checkbox
  • Click Close

If you want an even better experience then go to. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5846/ and install that extension. Fast and smooth. I just make sure to go into preferences and disable the bounce back.
